Wont start goin crazy!!!

85 p/u 22re,Ok truck won't start, thought I was frozen up for a min. but I got fuel everywhere, It will crank fire up for about 3-5 seconds and die. Did get it goin the other day adn took off down the road real quick. It spit and sputtered and the just took off and was fine all day until the next morning. My CEL is on but I dont have a clue how to pull codes on this truck. Not like my 91 with the te1 and e1 port. Anyone have any Ideas??

Ok I know which is the diag. plug cant pull a code tho just gettin a solid engine light it only ever comes on after 2,ooo rpm think it's the oil press. gauge. It dont work. What about fuel pump is there a way to test it, thought I heard of a plug like the diagostic one to test it.

on the OBD1 if the light comes on it will store the code. as far as the oil pressure gauge not sure what your talking about there. there isn't any way to test the fuel pressure, but the pump you can hear turn on or crack the line going to the cold start injector and see if gas sprays out.

take off the fuel return line from the fuel rail and trying a rank the enging.. just have some one hold the line into a small bucket and have some else crank over the engine and see if there is any consant flow of fuel coming out...

you may have a bad fuel regulator, it wont hur to change your fuel filter..

make sure you actually have gas in the tank.. ( give the tank a knock or two for hollow sound to see if its empty..)

you can also crack the line to the fuel rail from fuel filter.. and crank engine it its spraying good you know your getting good pressure..

check the manual of actual psi

pick up a fuel pressure gauge from harbor frieght tools should be under 15 bucks for a whole kit.. (NEVER HAD PROBLEM WITH MINE)

CHECK the manual for trouble shooting procedures..

I don't suggest cracking the line at the fuel filter on a 22re. the gas leaks out right on the starter, easy was to start a carBque...

on the 22re I wasn't awear that there was a tool to check the fuel PSI as there is no in-line place to check it. could you please provide a link to said tool? I would like to get one.

Captain moron here fixed it. What seemed like a fuel problem with all the symptoms of it was actually three wires running atop the from the coil, they were laid down on the manifold and were bare and touching. It's perfectly fine now and eh it's got a new fuel filter.
