Why am I loosing oil?

I am loosing oil in my 22re. We put about a qt to a qt and 1/2 in between oil changes. It doesn't leak or smoke at all. The truck runs great and I have check the plugs and they are perfect. Any ideas? The engine has about 9,000 miles on it.

We go about 3,500 - 4,000 between oil changes.

it may burn a little oil just when you shift a little puff and you may not even see it

Probability of some rings not seating, if there are no external leaks. My 22re has 200k and does not use 1qt/3000 miles.

I have the same problem. I have a 1995 runner with a compleat new top end, and I qt to 1and a half every 3000 miles. I also wish I knoew where it was going. Everything looks dry.

i probably cant help you find the leak, but just out of curiosity, what is your fuel milage? my old 85 pickup was loosing a quart of oil every gas tank (i dont know where), but it was getting 32-34 mpg. so i never asked questions, just kept a case of cheap oil on hand and never needed to change it out except for filters.

It gets between 18- 22 mpg's depending on how I drive it. It doesn't leak at all.

It's clearly burning it somewhere, the usage you are talking about is nothing. 1 quart per 1000 miles is considered normal use

just look at your tail pipe on your exhuast. if it got lots of black crap built up its burning oil. usually when you dont burn oil it just has a light carbon film.

It just has a light layer of black carbon. I am thinking it's normal with the engine work that was done.
