While cranking the coolant gets blown from the radiator

I just recently put a used head on my truck because my last one warped. When I went to start it up the coolant gets blown from my radiator while I was cranking on it. The only thing I can figure is that there is a crack in the cylinder wall. But while I had the head off I looked at the cylinders and they seemed fine. They still had the cross hatching and looked pretty decent. The only thing I could think is there is something wrong with my head. Yall have any thoughts?

did you turn the motor over and check all of the cylinder walls? sounds like you have a cracked block or the head gasket on wrong.

just make sure your water jackets dont have any kind of dowell shaped pins of that nature, your getting air somewhere, you can do a compresion test on your coolant system which i think autozone has that on loan a tool, or check each cylinder with a compresion tester turn the engine and if your spray coolant i woul take off the head and examine for any misshaps, i would use about 10-13psi with this test also, but keep an aye out for your liquids for any contamination

From my experience when this happens it is usually a head gasket or a warped head, I think it would have to be a pretty big crack in the cylinder to shoot coolant.

Also with a crack in the cylinder big enuff to blow coolant out of the rad it would also end up in the crank case.
