What year is my engine?

What year is my engine?
Hi all,
I have a 84 toyota 4wd pickup that has a 20R in it. The PO changed out the engine at some point and installed a 20R in the place of a 22R which should be in it.
Anyway, I'm trying to figure out what year this 20R is and what is it out of. Is there anyway to find out? There are stamped numbers on the DS of the engine before it says 20R

Thanks for the info but not what I'm asking here
I want to know "what year is the engine, I know they were made from 75-80
There has to be a way to tell what exact year it was made and from what it came out of.

If you can find such, I'm sure that it would be of interest to many.
It is irrelevant from a parts id standpoint as the LCE data is more than sufficient to identify compatable components.

Others have asked about determining engine year and application from engine numbers, but, as far as I know, they have found no database to satisfy them.

Also, I've been dealing with LCE for awhile now, very good guys over there. Some of there parts say that they are good for certain years say 75-78/9 for the parts and then 78/10 -84 so there must be differences. I'll give them a call, I never did ask them

There is also a 22R turbo block with different specs than other 22R engines. Mostly bungs drilled and tapped for turbo oil feed and drain, I think. This LCE page does not address them.

I suspect the build dates have to do with plug shape changes and that sort of thing, so again not going to be of any use since they (sensors ect..) have been changed to fit the current vehicle.

Made some progress in finding out what year it is. Because there was a change in the water pump design I now know the engine is from 77/10 to 80
Not perfect but closer then i was
