TRD Locker for an 85

OK, so a junkyard here has a wrecked 01 prerunner with about 45000 miles with the locker...I know the axle is wider than the 85s, but for the 750 they want for the axle hub to hub I am tempted to go this route...but I have a few questions...
1 does the driveline bolt right up?
2 do the spring perches have to be moved?
3 how much wider than the stock front 85 will this be?
4 How hard will it be to wire up the E-locker
5 Anything else I should consider/know about?

Any help is greatly appreciated...

PS: the said they wanted 1500 for the 3.4 and auto trans with no accessories(ECU, Airbox, etc not included) I have no need for it cause I dont want to mess with it but if anyone else wants it and will come get it let me know...

3. The 01 rear should be 60.75" wide while the 85 front is 55.5"
4. Not too hard, there is plenty of info around on how to do this, use the SEARCH button and GOOGLE.
5. Yeah, what is the gear ratio in the 01 axle, is it the same as in your 85 ????
How do you plan on making up the 5" difference in width on the front?

Are you wanting this axle because of the locker or because it's wider ?
If it's just for the locker just buy an e-locker or an ARB.

You can modify the '85 housing to fit the e-locker and not have to mess with all the other problems you would run into going with a wide rear axle. Unless you are planning on going something close to full width in the front too, I'd say just do the diff swap. Takes some grinding and welding and researching.
I bet there are a few posts on here as well as Pirate4x4 about how to do it.
If you can get just the locker for less than the $750 go for it, but even at $750 from what I've seen that is a fairly good price for the locker alone.
Just an opinion.

Wow, didnt realize there was quite that much difference!! that could be hard to compensate for because I had not intended to go full width up front...as for the gearing, I want 5.29s for 35s so thats not an issue...I mostly wanted it for the locker, but the extra width is a bonus...just didnt realize it was that much wider!!!!

considering the $$$ and the BIG width difference I my just re-gear, spool and be done with the rear..definately want a selectable for the front thought!

I think you nailed it there....unless you plan on driving on the street alot, just use a spool & worry about something else breaking...

**This is a link that explains what mods. would need to be done to the 8" toy axle in order to use the E-Locker. A little late but maybe it could help...

Well, gears =130.00,Master install kit=99, spool=189.00
ลลลล eating grin while passing jeeps on the trail and knowing my rig investment is still under 3500...=priceless!!!

This is the route I am going, the TRD rear was worth considering, but not worth the effort right now!!Thanks for the replys!
