6'3" 170 fit in both my 81 and my 95 no problem. It's cramped on very log drives though. Driven it 11 hours to Oregon twice.

I had a 91 single cab for a short time. At 6'3" I found that I had pleanty of leg and head room, but that bench seat making me sit strait up was about the most uncomfy thing after about 20 mins. In the end the single cab wasn't what I wanted and sold it after I found my 4runner.

Bucket seat swap is key.

Welcome to yotatech.
I tweaked your thread title slightly..first glance thought you were talking about a truck being too tall.

6'4 230 and i find single cab 79-83's QUITE cramped.... i could drive it around for a bit but it's very uncomfortable. 4runners or x-cabs fit me just fine though.

SCtoy is right, the buckets make all the difference. I'm 6' 1", all of 230 pounds, with short legs (29" inseam), and the difference between the bench and buckets is noticeable. I like to sit way back, even in my F250 I put the seat all the way back, so every bit counts.

The 86 MR2 Buckets and my smaller MOMO steering wheel were the best mods interior mods. Couldn't live without them.

As far as mods. Can't go wrong with Scotty's bumper, just wish I had the 4xinnovations sliders with the kickout. Wabfab sells a cheap IFS lift that will let you run 33s. 4.88s and a locker would be nice too. Love my Aussie locker.

Tons of info on this, look at some of the stickies at the top of this folder. You will find all the info you need.

Engine: Put a2.7 taco motor in it. Spending all that money you were gonna save on gas already?
Just remember more weight etc kills gAs mileage.
33's = gear swap to 4.88's

Skip the single cab and get a extra-cab or 4runner.

I fit at 6' and 250lbs for 23yrs but sometimes i juat wish for a few more inches in the leg area. Look around and find one, they make better daily drivers.
