Third gen 4Runner rims on first gen 4Runners?

Does anyone know off hand if the third generation (96-later) rims will fit on my 85 4runner? Is the center hole smaller on the newer models?

Center hole size should be fine, but the backspacing is deeper, so you would need around a 1.5" wheel spacer to let the wheels clear the steering up front and frame in the back.

Mine fit perfect on all 4 without spacers when I first put these on. But after installing 1.5" BJ Spacers, the tires were rubbing on the UCA's so I got 1" spacers all the way around for consistancy - These are 15" rims off a Tacoma with 31x10.5 tires. I used a dremmel to cut the hole in the center cap on the front.

The IFS ('86-'95) trucks use a wheel with 4.75" backspacing from the factory:

The solid axle trucks use 3-3/8" backspacing:

And that lesser backspacing is needed for the inside of the wheel to clear the steering and brakes up front and the frame in the back, since the solid axle trucks have a 3" narrower axle than the later model trucks.
