strange behavior and a pissed off owner

alright so a week ago i noticed coolant leaking down the side of the block.. leaky head gasket. so i took it in for a head gasket job he said it would be done wednesday or thursday... no call either days... i call him that night and he says its goin slow and will be done the next morning.. no call all day friday so i called him at 430 and he says the problem was the timing cover cracked during reinstallation and he welded it but the weld was bad so he was putting a new one on. so its finally done saturday and im driving it home and notice it has a nasty exhaust leak in the engine bay.. i didnt say anything though. then i got home and noticed the middle fitting on the hac valve had been snapped off and hot glued and of course the glue broke so i put my extra on. then i notice coolant leaking out of the intake manifold and i found a loose bolt sitting in my engine bay i dont know where its from. so i was goin to get my dad his birthday gift and the motor started choking, when i would give it gas it would stutter and die, up hills, it couldnt hold any speed it just started sloooowing down. when i shift, it chokes then i kind of jumps. its idling real rough and has NO power its all it can do to just accelerate.. so my question, whats wrong with it??? i will definitely be taking it back asap but any clue as to what it could be would be great.
i KNEW i shoulda done the hg myself
edit: its a 22r

That's a tough one. It sounds like the first shop had an incompetent tech working on your rig. It sucks, but I know it happens. The decision is whether you want to trust them enough to take it back to them, or take it somewhere else and paying for the repairs out of your own pocket. You may or may not be able to recoup your money later.

Maybe shop #1 actually has good tech, except for the new guy(hypothetical of course) that screwed up your rig. Maybe a different tech there would be ok and they would definately have to eat the labor cost. Hopefully they will not screw things up worse.

Have another shop look at it and tell you what all they did wrong, pay to have them fix it, or use the diagnosis as basis for filing in small claims court. This will probably be a PITA, but you won't risk your truck going back to shop #1.

my first question is did they charge you for the timing cover and the labor to replace it? However being a shop owner I have a different view, it is safe to assume they are not a toyota only shop who specializes in toy's. It was their inexperience that caused the cover to crack and to try and cover it up by welding it is shady to say the least. Then to have coolant leaks later sounds like I'd have the whole job rechecked. It is always best to give the shop a shot at making things better but if you doubt their abilities contact the owner and see if other arangements can be made. How long do they stand behind what they do? Remember you can be their best advertisement or worst enemy by the way they take care of their mistakes

Is it smoking a lot? Almost sounds like coolant is leaking from the intake and going into the intake into the engine. Thats whats mines doing.

its not smoking at all. hes checking into it were thinkin maybe its the carburetor im thinking possibly vaccum, i would take it to another shop but i had to sell my dirt bike to get it done in the first place and now i have 30 bucks to my name. he gave it a new timing chain and gears as well as the hg. the owner is actually a good family friend and a way cool guy buy this one tech has a nast scab on the top of his head im thinkin maybe he bumped his head real hard and hes not thinking straight or somethin. the owner, joe, says he does 20/22r hg's all the time so i think its one of his workers that screwed it up
oh and msr, they gave me the new timing cover and install for free.
im pretty sure the coolant leak is just a stat. seal but even if it is its just gay that he would give it to me like that.
