Stock gears for an '85

Hey all, i was just wondering if anyone knows what the stock gearing for a 1985 5speed 4runner is? i hear someone say an auto was 4.30 but i want to know what the 5 speed is. Thanks

while we're on the topic, isn't the stock ratio for a '79 4.37? i could have sworn it was, but the history on 4x4wire.com says 4.10(although that page has a lot of errors, i'm gonna shoot em an email)

Yes, 79-80 had 4.375, 81 was geared higher - 3.90, then 82+ was 4.10. In later years when the auto, 6 cyl, and 31" tire package were introduced there were a lot more ratios.

what gears will a 86 runner have in it if its a 5 speed, probably 4.10 right? cause im gonna get one cheap and do a sas...just wanna make sure before i blow a x-fer case or tranny

Actually, he did what he was asked to do per the rules of the forum and "searching". His question was in reference to an existing post so he bumped it rather than starting a new one.
