SR5 Options

I have an 84 4Runner and i was wondering whats the diference between an SR5 4Runner and a regular 4Runner, (diferent options between the two). My 4Runner has rear window wiper, and ive added a clock and delayed wipers, SR5 gauge cluster, and a duel diaphragm brake booster. i would like to add an inclinometer, but can`t find one. any other options ?.

Gauges? I think. If you don't have a tach, that's something the SR5's had. I am also assuming that some options like sunroofs and power windows are more common on the SR5 models. Here's what my 84 SR5 came with:
Power windows, sunroof, sport adjustable seats, sr5 gauges, rear heat(no rear defrost) power antenna, intermittent wipers, tilt. I think cruise was available, but mine doesn't have it.

I have a 4runner that looks much like Mr. Austin dude there (hiyas!).

I've had a few and this is the most loaded I've seen...

Sunroof
Rear Heater
Rear defrost
Full gauge package
Power windows
Seats that have SR5 embroidered (printed?) all over them
Tilt
A\C
Cruise
Full stereo with factory equalizer
Inclometer

I can't think of anything else it has. I'm pretty sure this 4runner has every option available at the time. Mine is (like my other 2 4runners) is an '85 with SFA and EFI

How about the pair of "map lights" that mount in front of the regular dome light?

Yup, got those.

I should take a picture of the SR5 seats, I don't think I've seen a pic on the web of them yet. But I haven't really looked either.

Oh, yeah..maplights. Depending on the year, more power options were offered. In my 84, its pw and powere antenna only, but in my 89, I have pw, pl, pm, and the power antenna.

I have the "zebra striped" Sr5 seats, but not the one's with "sr5" in the graphic.

If I had the time and money, I would put my 89 body on the 84 frame, but that's not going to happen.

My 85 truck also has the two prong outlet for the inspection light near the hood release lever. There's the AM/FM/MPX stereo with graphic equalizer too. My owner's manual also shows a winch as a factory option. The factory service manual even shows how to rebuild the winch...anyone ever seen one?

Did any trucks come with a plug-in for a block heater? One of the side access ports to the block (the round sealed-off ports along the block's sides) on my truck has a plug with 3 or 4 prongs. It kinda looks like a trailer hookup. It doesn't hang from a wire, its just molded intothat side port. Anyway, did Toyotas come with block heaters? What else could it be? It is NOT the oil sending unit, but it is located in front of the oil filter. 22R by the way.

Yea, that sounds like a common type of block heater. Probably aftermarket. In some locales, those suckers are very popular!

I have had two 4Runners, one a 1990 and one a 1991. Both are SR5's, but there are major differences. The '90 had Power windows, Power locks, remote entry, power sunroof, intermittent wipers, tilt wheel, cruise control, gauge dimmer, adjustable seats, everything. The '91 has many of these as well, but it has no power windows (except the rear one) and the seats are not adjustable. any ideas?

There were so many different options available when our 4Runners first came out, my 86 SR5 4Runner has a/c, rear wiper, rear window defrost, and tilt wheel, sun roof and it was an automatic thats been swapped to a 5 speed. The option i wish it had was power windows. I have been able to find a few things at pic n pull to add to my 4Runner that it didn`t come with that i will be adding.

FYI for power windows (maybe check out my door panel swap write up)

ANY window (w/ vent wing, w/o vent wing, Power type, Crank type, etc...) can be swapped from a 2nd gen truck/1st gen 4runner door. All doors are the same.

The doors have all of the various mounting holes pre drilled, you just need to swap the window regulator (and guide if your going vent wing to non vent wing etc.)

I know its possible to add power windows, i read on here were someone took the power window set up from a camry and made it work in a first gen 4Runner, its something i will be looking into in the future.
