Where to start with the new '85?
Okay, I'm new to the toyota scene, so please be gentle... Bought an '85 pickup with the intention of turning it into a good all around trail rig. I want to keep the bed, but other than that, all options are on the table. It is COMPLETELY manual,no power ANYTHING. So I would like to add power steering, dual cases, 5.29 gears and a locker in the rear. I want to clear 37" tires, so what lift should I go with? 4" or 5"? Trail-Gear or All-Pro? Chevy springs? Johnny Joint shackles? Open to all suggestions!

I have had good luck with trail gear, for the price you cant beat em. My advice is to go to pick and pull junk yards and find upgrades for the interior for next to nothing. in my mind one of the cool things about the '85-'88 body style is all the interior options that are offered and best of all they all bolt on. Ie, interior clock, sr5 seats, altimeter/inclinemeter, door pannels and many others.

Your options are only limited by cash flow. Ive been building my 4Runner for the last two years and have close to 9000 dollars into it.
