Spring pad and axle question

My tires rub on occasion where back of tire meets the back of front fender wells when turning and going over rock, stump ect. question is on the spring pad there three holes for the pin on the leaf spring to rest in. my pin is now in the center hole which centers the axle over spring. Can I move the axle forward locating pin in back hole to eliminate rub? Im hoping the other holes are drilled for this purpose.

is it a factory housing, the trail gear housing, or? what size tire? crossover steering i assume?

i have the tg housing, and i moved the axle forward about one inch, by doing just as you described... it can create issues.

before doing anything, jack up the drivers side tire as far as you can, and looking in over the tire to the crossover steering area, see how much clearance there is between the crossover rod and the rod connected to the steering box pitman arm, when the tire is fully stuffed.

when you push the axle forward, the clearance between those two will decrease, and they will probably hit each other at full stuff... your options are to move the steering box further forward than you probably already have, or get a shorter pitman arm, which has a negative effect on steering:

Yes you can use that back hole to push the axle forward . If I remember its like 1 3/8" further forward. Most housings are only drilled out on the passenger side so you have to redrill the driver perch.
It's reccomended that you have hi steer with Atleast 9/16 ubolts or larger ( 5/8 is the way to go ) and make sure they are torqued. Re checking ubolts and hi steer arms before every outing to prevent broken center pins and steering studs.
I got 35s on my build and I rub the wheel well also some with rancho 44044s . Will be doing this to mine here shortly too.
Search re-drilling toyota spring perch on pirate. A few good threads there.

Doing that is pretty common but if you still have the stock suspension with a track bar and stock push pull steering you will have more issues since you would need to remove the track bar and your draglink won't have enough adjustment in it unless you push the steering box forward too.
if you go that far you might as well convert to high steer as mentioned above.
You need a min 3" lift for clearance. It was by far the best mod I did on my truck. Night and day handling difference over stock steering.

End of page 2 of this thread has good example of redrilling a spring perch

that's a great example of exactly the problem that i'm referring to, thx... when you stuff that front tire, those two crossover shafts are going to bang into each other.

when you do something on these trucks, it always affects something else:
