in the last year i have had my truck broken into 3 times. Two nights ago i woke up and walked outside and my pickup was gone. Right out of my driveway. The Sheriffs think somone came just to get my truck. So now i am just waiting to find it in a canal or burning in a field. I hate theives!

 

Sucks man. Sorry to hear it. Seems like all the stolen toyota trucks are out in cali. heck ive left the door hanging wide open all night and everything is there in the morning. Anyway good luck getting it back.

 

Yeah cali is not too friendly when it comes to that. Recently we have had stolen trucks get ran through the front of gun stores. So hopefully either they are just joy riding in it or just usuing it for another robery then will ditch it and ill get it back. i hope it survives.

 

That sucks man. Mine (2nd) was stolen and I was admiring it as it came driving past us. I love old Yota's but then noticed MY bumper, rims, stickers etc. Ran after it downtown but no luck.

You should post up some good pictures of it so people in your area can keep an eye out for it.

 

Are you up in the sac area? Seems like trucks up there are always getting stolen

on a side note: the other day i was working on my trucks interior in the driveway, and it was getting late, and i had the radio on. (keys in ignition). so i walked away for a minute, (or so i thought) then my ADD kicked in, and i decided to hop on the treadmill, totally forgetting my truck. next morning i was looking for my keys, and suddenly realized 'OH ****!!! ' ran out there, truck was there, window down, keys still in the ignition. lol.

but hate to say it the oxygen thieves have probably already got your axle under a truck...low lifes piss me off.

 

Im in the bottom of the valley. I have left windows down before and things been fine. worst part is, i was gone for 2 weeks then come back and its there i worked on it to fix a throttle issue then that night it was stolen. i even FIXED it for them. the Sheriff was like "why would somone steal an 85 toyota" i said man if somone knew what they were looking for this is the truck. engine runs perfect. clutch is perfect. gears are perfect. now its getting stripped haha. and yeah. if i ever see it driving down the road, ill hunt somone down.

 

that sucks. people steal these old yotes casue they are easy to. i've replaced the igniotion cylinder in mine casue it was striped out(i could start the truck with a flat head screw driver) and while in the steering coloum i looked around. it dosen't take much to jamd a flat head into the igiotin to unlock the wheel then wire 4 wires together after bashing out the bottom plastic.even if your tuck is locked it's not safe. i've also replaced one of my doors so i know how the lock works. you can pop the lock out with a flathead and a hammer then pull the door rod and your in.the best thing to do ,really is wire in a kill swicth. but anyways that sucks to hear about

well i left some MAJOR things... and for good reason
i'm a autobody tech, i take cars apart everyday, anything pre 98ish are easy to braek into. after that car comapnies got smart

 

lol i was just kidding. these are the easiest things to steal. my friend had 2 corrolas (pre 98) and one key unlocked and started both. lol i find that to be pretty common.

 

well i got a call thismorning and it was found. not on fire or in a canal. just stripped clean. no engine. trans. everything from inside except seats. brake pedal. all shifters. basicaly i have a rolling body and frame. left the axles and tires. stole all lights. hood. dented the left side in pretty good (possible rolled it) mirrors. even the cab light. every hose and wire in the engine bay is cut. so even to put a new one in i have to get EVERYTHING new. so im debating on finding a old POS toyota and taking the engine and trans out to put in mine. or just sell the chasis. what do you guys thing is worth it? it gets to my house in a hour or so then i will post pics if you want to see it

 

i wouldnt think it would be worth it. its a hard decision ifya love it. but for me i think id take the loss and start lookin to buy.

 

Was it insured for theft? List any upgrades to give to your insurance co. (after) they make their offer. If covered they will pay you and you can buy it back if you want.

Could make a great dedicated trail rig now. Big motor and all. You can probably buy it back for a couple hundy if that. Front axle is worth $$$ Is it geared or locked?

front axle has stock lockers on it. it was 4wd. i heard there is a guy in town that has a 83 with a 86 motor and trans in it. that wants 700 for it. so i might offer 500 for it and put the engine and trans in mine.
