what is an easy way to make my solid axle yota ride somewhat desent... right now it shakes the teeth right out of your head... tuff country 4in suspension lift on it now. 33-1250 tires. any suggestions?

 

Never heard of tuff country. Sounds more or less like the Rough Country suspension and they don't call it Rough for no reason!

Change the springs out for either Alcan or OME. The 2.5" OME will give you 3"+ in my experience and you can easily still run 33" tires. You can have the Alacans made anyway you want them.

 

Longer or at least better springs are the way to go. If you want low lift, the OME stuff will fit with the stock hangars. If you want to go 4" or higher, go with Marlin/All Pro/Trail-Gear stuff. Also shocks play a BIG role in your ride quality. After having a set of Bilstiens on my truck, and the cars I've driven/ridden in with them, I don't know that I could run anything else.

 

Does it shake (side to side) or is it harsh ride (bouncy)? The above posters have mentioned the right approach to improving ride quality. But if its a shaking like I'm thinking it could be more of a steering/alignment/tire issue.

if u have lift blocks, that could be a factor in that, but not the whole problem.

 

Pull a leaf or 2 out of the bottom of the packs, that will help.

 

You might try doing a little detective work to see where the harsh ride is coming from. Maybe the shocks are too short or too long or too stiff. Maybe the spring leaves are rusted together or the shackle bolts are rusted inside the spring bushings. Or maybe the springs are too stiff, maybe they are made of a few thick leaves instead of many thin leaves. Could also be worn out bushings in either the springs or even body mount bushings. My '85 was very rattly and jarring stock and part of that was body mount bushings:

shocks, put two per corner good shocks, but remember its a solid axle, want to ride good, buy a ifs truck. But shocks really help

 

hmm. my tuff country springs ride ok, they flex good too. they are the ez ride ones though

and as for allpro springs, they ride good and flex even better. good quality too!.. but require spring hanger relocation.
