Nuttin' special - this is my '84 right after I bought it back in '06. Drove it as my daily driver for about a year and a half then the engine died. Just now getting around to re-doing it.
Engine is all re-machined and I'm working on reassembly and installation. Goal is to have it running by second week in June. Pretty much a stock rebuild with a 260 cam and Thorly header. Had a 2-1/4" exhaust with high flow cat installed right after I bought the truck 'cause it wouldn't pass emissions. It's no longer subject to emissions testing here in WA...
Also have a ported 20R head with oversized valves waiting in the wings. Need to get a Weber carb to use it.
After the engine goes in, next thing that needs addressing is the suspension. Shocks are shot, springs are sagging. Planning to go with OME springs. Also going to replace the wheels. Someone drove quite a ways with the lugs loose on one of them and the seats are all wallowed out. Needs tires, too. Those are only 30x9.5 and are almost bald. Want to go with 32s or maybe some 265/75-16s if I find a good deal on used factory wheels from a later model. After that hopefully I can find the funds to swap gears to 4.56s and put a locker in.
Also, bed is starting to rust, got a couple holes in it on passenger side now but I found a rust-free replacement on Craigslist a couple weeks ago only it's blue. Guess I'll be taking it to Maaco...
