Payload specs?

I'm trying to find out what the payloads are for the 1/2 ton and 1 ton trucks. I've got an 84 pickup 22r, 1/2 ton long bed but can't seem to come up with the specs for it. And what is the diffrence in the 1/2 ton and 1 ton? Is it just the springs?

The payload for all 1984 trucks, except ¾ ton(no 1 ton in 84), is 1400lbs. ¾ ton payload is 1800lbs. See the sales brochure found here.

The difference between ½ ton and ¾ or 1 ton is a larger differential and thicker axle shafts...usually(esp. if it's 2WD, since 4WD already have larger differentials and thicker axle shafts the same as ¾ or 1 ton). I'm not sure about the differences regarding the springs, but I'd assume there are some.

If you look on the door you will see the GVWR, subtract the curb weight of the vehicle from that, and the answer will be the load capacity
