Exclamation OME Lift Help Please!!

I have an 85 toyota pickup which im going to put OME CS009FA/B (Leaf springs) up front and CS009R in the rear... Im also putting on high steer at the same time and i need to find a shackle which will allow for the high steer. WabFab's "barney" truck was my inspiration for this style lift. My only concern is finding a lift shackle long enough to allow for highsteer and engineered using a shouldered bolt or some sort or truss between the shackle so the bushings maintain a proper preload and prevent premature wear(e.g. by tightening the shackle bolt the shackle plates compress indefinitly without a shouldered bolt or truss between the shackle plates) Another question is if i manage to get all of this installed properly, will the pitman arm in conjunction with highsteer, bind with anything during max articulation with this lift setup? Thanks

So i did a little more research and contacted a few people about this lift situation. Its seems like ill have to just throw it all together and see how it works...no one seems to know for sure what will happen. Im going to have to just buy the OME leafs & 5'' shackles which should give me about 4" of lift(Leafs=2.5", shackles=1.5" equals 4" total) This should be enough for the highsteer to work properly. The only issue after that is how the lift is going to effect my drive shaft angle and length...? I was told i would have more issues with the angle than the length probably. Id like to have this work without having to add a high pinion or have to relocate the leaf perches etc. Anyone have Highsteer without crazy suspension mods?

I've done it and the truck is sitting in my shop right now. I told you what will happen and what you will have to do.

Not sure why you are still confused.

Im not confused about what i want, i just need to know what i should do when i run into driveshaft troubles. I shouldnt be lengthening the wheel base any so i dont see why i would have to lengthen my driveshaft? i understand by lifting the truck it will change the pitch of the driveshaft and probably extend it slightly, Whats the best way to change the driveshaft angle? e.g High pinion, relocate leaf perches, angle shim the leafs, whats the cheapest and easiest way to go?

it is geometry...you are lengthening the long side of the triangle..aka the side where the driveshaft is...

or cross your fingers....

Yep, as noted above, recall A*A + B*B = C*C (a.k.a. Pythagorean theorem) where "A" is the horizontal separation of the shaft flanges, "B" is the vertical separation and "C" is the shaft length. So, "A" stays the same, "B" increases by the amount of lift and thus "C" must get longer.

Spacers or lengthen shaft if needed:

Longer shackles will change pinion/caster angles:

All the above will fix the angles, which to choose depends on how far off you are and what abilities you have to apply to fix the problem.

What is the most common way to change the pinion/castor angles? Degree shims?

Some options listed below:

Shims work well to a point, but on the front axle you may have conflicting pinion and caster angle needs.
