Kind of a crux; stock purest or mild build. Hard on to call.

Guess I will wait till I have the motor rebuilt. Then take it from there. As far as selling it at auction. No way. She's priceless to me. I waited and waited for my $3000 85 runner and she showed up. Can't bring myself to sell her ever

Edit: the whole point of a SA rig was cheaper to build and stronger or at least less moving parts for off roads. She needs lockers and gears at a minimum.

Does anyone know if a header from an 85 pickup 4x4 will work with the 85 4runner?

Ok since money is tight but I have this overwhelming urge to do something to my rig. I decided to measure the sag. About 4" in the rear. Center or hub to bottom edge of the fender is 18.5" and up front it 22.5". So from my understanding to level it back out and not spend a ton of $$ there are 2 basic choices. Zuk mod or longer shackles. While the zuk mod may be cheaper if I find tj springs will the shackles ride better? I would think to get the better ride from the zuk mod I would have to order the black magic springs? Can't remember the name off hand. What are your thoughts and suggestions.
BTW. The stock shackles are 5" ish. So if I wanted to pick it up 4" I would need a 8" longer shackle. Seems like that's to big. Help me think clearly please. Also I think I have decided to go with 4crawler sliders. Buy the mounting hardware and get the long pieces locally. He does have nice shackles as well.

They are and I think I actually have a pair floating around. I am just worried they will give me to much lift. At most I want 3" over stock. And most guys I see running 63's with RUF are up in the 4-5" range rated they settle in. What are your thoughts on this.

On the bright side I am meeting a guy tomorrow to pick up some very lightly used BFG 31x10.5x15 on rims for a good price. He is taking them off his 85 because of a lift and selling them to me. Good times it's like Christmas at the end of February.

Picked up some new to my BFG AT's today. 31x10.5x15's. Probably under 10k miles put on them. The guy Cody was selling them because he just put a 4" on his 85 pickup. Nice truck as well. Then on the way home I saw a sick Toyota in the parking lot and then had a lady offer to trade me her Tacoma (3rd gen Tacoma I'm guessing). Straight across for my 85 4runner. I politely said not a chance. . Her Tacoma was bigger than the first 2 versions but not as big as the current ones. So not sure on the year. I will upload pics in a sec of the cool yota I saw.

Ok so camping for the weekend. Been thinking about how she's running and when I ran her down on gas and then filled it up with some seafoam added it ran better for a bit and now is acting like she's starving for fuel every once and a while.

So I think I will pull the pump early next week and see if cleaning the sock will fix the problem. Then hopefully get my exhaust put on next week. Might have enough power to turn the 31's I got. But as of now she a slow dog. Good times.

Ok so as I said I just go tires and have a set of rims I'm going to have them mounted on. What's a fair price to try and sell my stock steel Toyota sr5 85 4runner rims for.

Got some new shoes for the 4runner. Had the use set of BFG AT's mounted on some aluminum rims I had. I took some pictures after I got it washed but it was dark. I just didn't want to hear "take the pictures with a flash" . I took I out for a test drive and heard a small clicking sound and it was a wheel weight just barely rubbing the tie to end. After about 15 miles the sound is all but gone.

Other stuff I have done to try and figure out why she's not running awesome.

Pulled the fuel pump out to checked for a clogged filter. Clean as a whistle. I got lucky all the screws holding the pump down came out great. I then got to thinking and talking to a buddy. Since the problem is primarily when it's cold we got to thinking that it could be the engine coolant sensor. It's running rich on start up then one warm she no longer smells rich. Well I will throw $17 at a problem so I bought my sensor an went home to install it. When I went to unplug the existing sensor I noticed that it had a bared wire. . Well I tried to solder it to protect it I couldn't flux it so the solder wouldn't stick. I just carefully wrapped it electrical tape and plugged it back in. So far it seems to have solved the problem and I get to go return my unused part. I will keep you updated as to if it fixes the problem. Ok that's it for the update. I will post a few pictures of the new shoes tomorrow.

Found a guy somewhat locally that has a 85 4runner frame for sale that looks to have a crawler winch front bumper and sliders on it. One of the sliders has a corner that appears to need to be rewelded. But for $500 if the bumper is in good shape and the sliders are fixable I think I'm going to buy it. Might also be able to salvage an exhaust off it and a PS gear box. I will keep you posted. Tell me if I'm paying to much by the way.
