New to me 85 4runner

Am picking up a 85 SR5 4runner tomorrow. Can't believe I found one. Unmolested original owner. 230k miles. Kinda doing backflips right now. Top has never been off and only a spot of rust above 1 of the rear wheel wells. I finally found my unicorn. I will post pics tomorrow.

Congratulations on the find. I just got into Toyota and found one but didnt know what I was looking at. Still kicking myself in the rear for that one. Doesnt sound near as nice as the one you found. Looking forward to pics of one not butchered up and top not ever been taken off. Great find!!!!

Ran out of daylight to take pics. Tried to find the CL add but he already pulled it. I will add pics tomorrow. I know what a tease.
It is a very very clean 85 runner. All stock. Has the original sales window sticker and owners book. Even the stock tape deck with working power radio antenna. Back window works great power windows work. Top has never been off. The AC belt is pulled. He said it sounded like the bearing was going out. Wonder what that's like to fix. There is a small bit of rust above the passenger rear wheel well and a little on one door. Super stoked.

Easy Peasy, I have used PS pulley to replace the AC pulley.

Youtube video...

My Power Steering Pulley is a little noisey so thought I would show how to replace the bearing. I used PN# 204-FF.

Then I removed the nut and the pulley. On the backside there is a wire clip that holds the bearing to the pulley. Remove it,
then I used a 3/4 inch socket and drove it out over a vice.

I put a little oil in side the pulley and used the vice and slowly worked it back in most of the way. Once it is flush with
the pulley I used another socket to finish getting it all the way in so as the wire clip would seat.

Here it is all cleaned and painted. The bearing was $22. Toyota wants to sell the whole assembly. I was unable to
find just the pulley. Hope this helps someone.

Right on Terry thanks

I know Drop. I wanted good pics for my first ones. Sun should be up in a few hours.

Should give me enough time to get her insured and transfer title. I think I can get classic plates for it as well. 30 years old and such. The PO thought it needed a new motor soon but the timing chain is quiet and it has lots of power. Just has a low rough idle. Around 600 rpms, bring it up to about 800 rpms and she smooths right out. He used all OEM parts. Its as gem.

Very lucky. Been looking for a clean 85 for about 6 months. They are turning in to unicorns. :-)

I really want to take the top off this summer but afraid it will leak afterwards. After all, 30 year old rubber probably isn't that rubber like anymore

Double back flips! Awesome find. Unmolested Solid axle Yotas on stock wheels with the factory under engine skid and under bumper valance are becoming super rare.

I settled on my 84 x-cab bone stock carbureted SR-5 with flight log of all maintenance from 1983 -2013 + fresh trans build. The down fall is all the bed rust that I'm now suffering through repairing.

That is a great find. The seal in between the cab and shell is surprisingly in great shape from my experience. I have not seen a bad one yet. The side glass seals is another issue. Never had them to leak but they do dry rot and crack and can make it tough to get the glass closed again.

I take my hard top on and off all the time to put my bikini top on. And my seals get to see Arizona summers every year.

Thats good to know AZ and Terry. As for the side windows the PO used them a lot so they seem to be in good shape. What does everybody like for bikini tops. I am planing on putting neoprene seat covers in for element protection

That's I nice looking 4runner AZkid
