I installing an aftermarket tach and I need to know where the negative terminal on the ignition coil is??? Please help!!!!

 

it should say on the coil itself! but i believe its the side closest to the air cleaner

 

Oops! I forgot '85 4runner w/EFI Ilooked at the terminals but couldn't find any markings there. One side has 2 wires and the other side has one (two to the airbox side) if I just hook it up and try am I going to blow anythig up? Thanks in advance.

 

Do you have the coil with the ignitor piggy backed to it or the old school style coil.

 

Ignitor is piggy backed.

 

Ive hooked it up back wards before and it didn't hurt anything,(one side works and one side does nothing..)

the positive side is the side closest to you(when standing in front of the truck facing the motor)

or if looking at the 2 posts on the coil, (with the igniter box on top) left is negative and right is positive!

confused yet?
