Unhappy name that engine noise (mp3)

So the truck I'm about to purchase has a bad noise to it. What do you guys think it is?

You might have to turn your speaker up pretty high, its right before shift and it does it twice. It does it every time the engine revs high before shift.

If a rod bearing you may be able to feel the knocking in the metal part of the stick shift. Try shifting using metal section below the knob. Push stick hard into the gear selected, away from neutral, will help pick up the knocking. How may miles on engine?

i just talked to my brother in law whos truck it is, he said there should be nothing wrong with that truck. Said it was a new rebuild. I really hope its just something knocking around outside the engine =\ arg i hate vehicle trouble.

thats definitely a rod knock, a friend's 22re did the same thing, under load you didn't really hear it, but when you backed off the gas to shift it sounded just like your sound clip

knock under load and gone when unloaded is never a good thing unless you are the mechanic and then telling someone the price is not a good thing
