i havent had reverse for a good month now, and i have a new tranny im going to try to put in this weekend, never done this and was wondering if anyone has any tips,

i have been, i just want to know any common problem, a buddy of mine had to lift his engine to get to the bolts at the top of the bellhousing, but he has a 3rd gen truck

 

put good oil in it before you run it. make sure you check the dowel pins on the tranny and motor so you don't have one in each for the same hole... (don't ask me why it took 3 hrs to install a motor in my truck that normally takes 30-45 minutes tops... buttoned up in 10 minutes after i took out one of the dowels.)

don't lose the bolts. leave the support brackets attached to the motor, only unbolt em from the tranny. make sure the front of the transmission is supported before you unbolt it from the motor.

use common sense. its pretty simple to do.

there is one stud in the tranny i am putting in and one in the one i took out, theyre in the same location, but i still cant push it foward, any idea why this is?

 

Spray it real good with the penetrant of your choice. Heat if you have it aluminum and steel because of the different metals corrode

Sometimes people tend to say things are simple This is not a job you should be doing your self while it can be done .

Things can go bad real easy.

Do you mean a used transmission. Have you checked that it spins and shifts smooth.

While it is out you are putting in a brand new clutch with release bearing and pilot shaft bearing .

have you changed the slave cylinder and rubber hose??

 

I go the tranny from a family friend and they told me it worked fine it spins good and everything. I put a new clutch, pilot bearing, and release bearing. My slave is pretty new.

 

I just can't seem to line it up to put it in
