Exclamation manual to power steering

when doing a manual to power steering swap on a 84 pickup 22r i know the p/s stuff has to be from 4wd......but does it matter if the p/s stuff is from a v6 or does it have to be from a 4cyl?

The power steering parts such as the pump and brackets can come from a 2wd or a 4wd, it doesn`t matter, but if your adding power steering to a 22R then you will want the pump and brackets from a 22R or 22RE, the V6 pump and brackets won`t bolt on to a 22R.

Power steering pump and bracketry
Power steering lines
Power steering box..
All three things you can find used off any toyota pickup.
Actually i don't think you even need the box, the ps line fittings are just plugged on the box.

about as hard as putting on the pump and lines..
I've never done it, personally, but if its what i think it is then it's not that bad.

Instead of converting the push/pull a better upgrade is hi-steer and an IFS steering box..

also bought a knuckle rebuild with bearings from marlin(165) now all i need is a box. then its pretty straight forward, i found this thread helpful. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...r-22re-106530/
will take pictures and keep you informed.

good thread. Im going to just pull everything off a 22r with power steerign and put i bakc on mine for the time being. And im also looking to do a 3 in lift. like rough country or something. Would that be better off going with the high steer.

Well, hi-steer will make it steer alot better when you lift it.
Also, a good lift is rear springs up front, and 63" chevy springs out back.
It's way cheaper than new springs, and will ride a LOT better.
And when you lift it, the J-arm goes down on the axle, and in return brings the relay rod down..

The only fix is hi-steer or a relay rod with a bend in it to compensate for the lift.

how much lift will the rear springs give the front i bought that yota tonigh its an 84 single cab 22r straight axle and it is sitting on 31s for now. paid 1700. having to replace timing chain though.. interior is good.

But yeh gettin timing chain done then lifting with tires just wanting to go up to 33s nothing major. but it doesnt have power steering but its not too bad i guess.
