Look what I found.

Its a 1984 4Runner, it only reads 157k miles! I found this truck sitting in the back of a lot. I am going to try and find the owner and take it off his hands.

The plates say that is hasnt got new license tags since 94. So I am sure it has been sitting since then.

My question is do you think it is salvageable or should I cut it up and sell some parts. I really want to use the front axle for a SAS.

If you have a place to store it and can get it for very cheap I'd go for it. Axle under your truck and you can part the rest of it out out or have spare drivetrain parts

I don't think that axle will fit under your truck but if you get it I will take it off your hands
It looks pretty far gone but you diffenetly could use the axle and part out the saveable parts and maybe make your money back

It really upsets me to see that. I would rather see it all hacked up and beat on than just sitting there.

omg, someone would have to pay me to take that. $50 max. you'd have to completely rebuild that axle and sand/media blast it, etc.... you can find/buy a better one (for same $ or less by the time you're done with that one) and not deal with time and hassle of having to get rid of a huge rusted tin can. unless....you're 16 or just the type of guy who has 20 junk cars by his double wide not judging, to each his own, just my opinion.

I am sure there is a lot of good parts. Hell, you could sell the door panels for $50. Or maybe a canidate for a truggy. I wouldn't be suprised if it would run with a little work. Mine sat for 10 years. Battery and fuel pump and she fired right up. Ran great for a while then developed a multitude of problems. I'm bringing her back to life though.

After a small fortune you will get it going and then as you drive it, it will literally fall apart in front of your eyes. Then, you will spend another small fortune and after $10k you will still have a rusted out bucket. some are just not worth saving. if it was a 32 ford coupe or a 49 merc it might be a diff story.

Honestly, I like it. Shoot, if I were much much more mechanically inclined and had the resources, I would get that baby running.

I don't know but when I saw that rust-bucket, I saw potential...

Not saying you need another truck, but hell if you can do it, I would root you on the whole way.

I sure hope that front axle is salvageable. Its worth the $100 just for that.

I know parts for those trucks are becomming rare...
Maybe someone died and its been sitting there. The last time the truck was driven, the dude was alive! Whoa!

does it run? Save the motor if you can. Check it out see if it runs. Save that rare 22re motor. May come in handy.

Free might not even be a good deal on that thing IMO. Check that front end carefully I wonder if you can even get the wheels to rotate, definitely replace all the seals, bearings etc etc...

Yeah as i said before I can probably get this thing for free...I do want to try and start it though, what I was going to do is take out the drive train, the fiberglass top, the roll bar, and whats left of the interior, and sell that. Then just junk the body.

Currently the truck is in my hometown, I am going to try and find the owner this weekend. Ill try to get some more pics too!!! Ill keep you all posted.

Doesnt a 4Runner in this condition just hurt your heart!
