My 85 4unner sat for 10 yrs without being touched or turned over. I have done a lot of work to it but not much $$$. It drives great, will soon run great. I put about 5000 miles on it last summer(never broke down, amazing) before I started to tear into it this winter. Drove it a couple of hours to The Cliffs OHV park and beat on it all day. It actually is getting better the more miles I put on it. Mainly just alot of rust, braking system was fubar, and some motor work, all fluids and chassis lube. Basically it needed a 1,463 point inspection. It was really funny driving it for the first time though, I don't even know what to say. If you slapped the passenger seat while driving you would have to stop because of all the dust. Rear window works too, wow. The first time I got her up to 70 was scary but she did fine.

Hahaha, I found out how much they want for this piece!!! They want $1200 they say it still runs and everything, but they also said that they drove it like a week ago, and there is no seat or anything, I honestly think they are full of crap!!! Do you even think this thing is worth that?? I mean if I did get it I could part it out!! Sell the top, roll bar, etc!!

WOW!...he wants $1200 for that...holy ..dang...i paid $1500 for my 1st gen pickup...and it had brand new Swampers on it...(bout $600 in tires)...and it ran fine...wasnt much wrong with it either...but we're fixing little stuff..and everything was stock..so i knew what i was getting myself into when we bought it...but i just couldnt pass it up...for that...MAYBE $700 if it runs and drives....but i doubt that...since it aint got a seat...and its got a HUGE rats nest up under the hood..their lying to you if they say they drove it..lol

Those people are crazy. How are they going to say they just drove it?

Tell them if it starts up and drives like they say, you'll give them $1200. If it doesn't, they sell it to you for $200. Sounds like a fair offer to me.

sometimes you just need to walk away

you could also call it into city hall as an unregistered / abandoned eyesore and pick it clean from whatever junkyard it gets towed to

i proalbaly would of laughed at them when they said they drove it, and as rusted as that body looks there is no way its even remotely worth 1200

$1200? who drove it, elvis? the pope? I don't even think it's worth 300. I'd give him 100 for it and part it out to make more money. You can find something in better shape for less.

i payed 300 for my first gen with little rot and al it needed was a timing belt i say it you would probity make 1200 back in parts but it will take a ling time and allot of effort so its not really worth it if you wanna sas save your time and go to a junk yard with 200 bucks

If all those leaves are still under the hood, I guarantee they haven't driven it in a while. lol That 22R, doesn't have an air cleaner or anything over the carb. I'm guessing it was stolen, partially stripped and recovered. But wasn't worth the expense to replace the missing parts.
With a rebuild the motor could probably run. Same for the axles, tranny and t-case.
I hate to say it, but the parts that you've listed plus the glass and suspension (possibly) are more than likely the only salvageable parts. If there is that much rust on the tub, I'd bet there is probably nearly as much on the frame.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

So have you gone back and offered them a REASONABLE amount? Like $200?
If not, post their contact info.
I'll offer it.

I bought my '85 4runner for $1500 with 160K on it and ran like brand new.
Of course there is rust around the rear wheels, but there are only around 2 in the world that don't

I don't even think you could sell $300 worth of parts out of it...especially since you'd take the FA and TC. The rest looks like hell on wheels. My 4runner project was in rough shape but 20 times better than that and it was free. If I would have bought it for what my father-in-law wanted in the first place, it would have only been $600.

My coveted EFI setup that I bought from someone (including harness, ECU, intake and exhaust manifolds, fuel lines, fuel filter, coil, igniter, distributor, fuel tank with pump, entire exhaust assembly, and other misc) was $150 and aside from the front axle, I'd rate that as one of the more valuable things on a 22re having vehicle.
