hydro assist

is it a good thing when running a hydro assist to lock one tei rod end back and the other forward to keep the tie rod from laying back. the instructions say to do this but i don't know if it will cause a rod end to pop off

I don't run tie rod ends, but I alternate the rod ends on the tie rod so they just barely have enough travel left to handle the angle of the steering arms. Basically it you lay the wheels all the way to the steering lock, the tie rod can't rotate much. Just be sure not to cause things to bind up, you want a little bit of free play at lock, but no more than needed.
