Exclamation Help with replacement brake booster

In the middle of doing the vented rotor upgrade and wonder which year or years would be correct for the dual diaphragm booster?

To the best of my knowledge they changed them to dual diaphragm on the 4Runner in mid 89 with the 22re, I think this is the same size. I have read that upgrading to the 6cyl model also works and gives more assist but is larger and very tight on installation.

Is it realy neccissary to upgrade and are thay all a tight fit or are there different outside deminsions?

Thanks

I upgraded to a duel diaphragm brake booster on my 85 truck and it made a noticable improvement in braking. I still have the stock brakes, and im running 37" tires, so no its not necessary to upgrade but its worth it. Its not a tight fit either, it bolts in just like the stock booster the only difference is the duel diaphram booster is one inch deeper front to back. Its a very easy upgrade, it only took me about forty five minutes to put on.

I pulled the duel diaphragm brake booster and master cylinder off an 89 two wheel drive toyota truck with a 22RE engine.

OK without

WE completed the brakes and after a road test it seems to be ok with the stock booster, firm pedel but very predictable and not to hard to lock up, wet or dirt road.

Still plan on upgrading the booster but with 31's it seems to be ok for now...

The stock booster is ok and will work well, but once you upgrade to the duel diaphragm booster you will notice a difference. I just got a duel diaphram booster for my 84 4Runner, it came off a 95 4Runner and is a direct bolt on. its a nice upgrade for the stock 23 year old booster.
