Help Removing Autolocker

Working with an 84 8" 3rd.. how do i get the Aussie out of the spider housing? (spider housing is seperated from the carrier already)

isn't the spider housing and the carrier the same thing?

anyway, pop the carrier lock pin out(big pin going threw middle). then use a pick of some sort and pull all the springs out. then push the pins all into one side or the other, then line up the flat spots of the locker with the carrier, and then pull them out.

Ah springs and pins thats what i was missing. Thanks

I thought the carrier was the main carrier that bolts to the axle housing and the spider housing is the little thing the ring gear bolts to.. is that correct?

no, the thing that bolts to the rear end, is the housing, aka 3rd member, aka pumpkin. the thing that the ring gear bolts too is the carrier.. thats why the bearings on the sides are called carrier bearings

on some you going have to remove the ring gear, so the locker will slide by

Wait a minute...what do you need an auto locker for anyways?? You putting it in the front?
