Front end sags

Need some help in determining what to do. . . . I have a 84 22r 2wd and the front sags. The front end definetly sits lower then the back end. I think it looks like crap and I'm trying to figure out how to fix it. This is my commuter and "home improvement" truck.

I did some searches here and it seems like people have problems with the rears sagging but not so much the front. I replaced both front and rear shocks within the last few months. I replaced them with the cheapo Gabriels.

Any input? Thanks.

2WD should have torsion bars up front, cranking them up is one option or put in stifer bars:

Or put in a pair of ball joint spacers:

I read some info on adjusting the torsion bars, I'm about 1 inch away from the bumpers bottoming out on the front. It looks like crap. How much can the torsion bar adjuster bolt be "cranked down" I have over 2" of thread already showing.

Also, does it matter that I installed Gabriel shocks instead of a higher end shock?

Hopefully someone here can help me. . . .please! I tried cranking down on the torsion bars and I got a couple of revolutions out but it may no difference in the ride height. Now i'm looking to replace the stock torsion bars and I can't find any. I called a Toyota dealer and they want $221 a peice! That is ridiculous! I called Old man EMU and they don't carry the 84' torsion bars and the guy thinks that the ones for the 86'-and up will work with my truck. Can anyone confirm this?

Does anyone have any input that may help?

Can you provide pictures? That may help diagnose the problem, also check pick-a-part junkyard for some used Torsion bars (way cheaper than Dealership if you don't mind working a bit) if that is what you need. It can't hurt to look at mounts for suspension to see if anything is bent/broken elsewhere. Seems to me if you crank the bars it should do something to the ride height, maybe broken torsion bars? ( I'm not sure if that is likely but who knows) I have encountered all kinds of gremlins on mine and I kill 'em off one at a time.

Here is a the side view. After adjusting the torsion bar it did make a difference but was very slight. The front height measure 8" from the top of the rim to the bottom of the wheel well. The back height measures 9-1/2" from the top of the rim to the bottom of the wheel well. So I'm looking to still get more lift out of the truck. Should I replace the torsion bars or ball joint spacers, or . . .?

Here is an underside view of the front drivers side. It is hard to see but the bumper is just over 1/2" away from bottoming out against the top bumper

Not sure but seems like your torsion bars are worn out, 1/2 inch clearance just seems too little. As for cost check around online (google), e-bay maybe even craigslist. If not pick-a-part yard are all generally cheaper than Dealer. Good luck. On a side note I did the timing chain on my 84 and had the head milled. The job wasn't hard but took a good day not including machining.

Toyota used a lot of the same parts over and over again... there's a good chance the one from the 86 will fit, but I can't say for sure...

Swayaway carries it, not any cheaper-but it says it fits 84-97...
