does my oil pump need replacing?

Well in addition to my starting problems another thing I have noticed is that when it is very cold outside, my oil light stays on longer than it does when it is warm outside. I was just wondering if it could possibly be a sensor going bad, or if I really am not developing oil pressure. I plan on getting a mechanical guage hooked up but until I get the results from that just looking for some preliminary thoughts.

i believe at least on mine the oil pump is gear type so they really last long time , and if its cold out yes the oil will take a bit longer to get moving take a look at what type oil your using?? as in weight

Thats normal, when its real cold outside your oil will be thicker, so it will take longer to make its way through the engine, and on warmer days the oil is thiner so it will flow faster.

depends on ur oil wieght mainly since these oil pumps do last a long long time. 20w50 right now is too thick unless you got oil consumption issue. if ur running 10w40 or 10w30 then you might just have a worn out pump. might want to replace it and drop the pan and clean out the strainer. it could also be a dirty or crappy filter.

I have 10w30 in it right now. but im 500-1000 miles away from an oil change. Should I be worried at all or maybe just wait until i change oil and try something a bit thinner? and see how that works out?
