i ahve a 87 toyota 4x4 with the 22r in it and when i turn the distributer notheng happens. The motor dosent change one bit ive never ran into this problem so any input would be great.. i was also wondering if that could have anything to do with a rough idle and the truck running rich and fouling plugs? thanks for any input

do you have a STEPSIDE??? i've seen tamiya rc yotas with that body but never a real one...got more pics??

anyway....do you mean when you loosen and turn the dizzy when the engine is running, it doesn't sound like the timing is being effected?? you are hitting it with a timing light correct?

Its not a factory box heh.

Are the vacuum lines hooked up to the distributor? Do you have a factory carb will all lines correctly attached?

What ever happened wiht this. Sounds similar to an issue I'm having. Some folks suggested my dist. may be installed one tooth off cuz I got no more movement to bring the timing down. I'm running at something like 12degrees advanced.

If you have a 22RE, make sure that you are disabling the advance at the check connector. If you have a 22R, make sure you disconnect and plug the hoses going to the vacuum advance. Your distributor could also be a tooth off as you are thinking if the advance has been disabled and the timing is still 12 degrees off.

You are correct and we did jump the diagnostic plug and we were still at 12 degrees advanced.

I'll post back after I make the adjustment.
