Custom cener console build

Yeah I still have my stock console, and it's in decent condition.

But does it have any cup holders?-no
Can it actually hold anything substantial?-no
Is it flimsy?-yes
Is the plastic beat to hell?-yes

So my plan is to build the console around an old ammo can. With cup holders in the front and a tray in the back to hold small stuff.

In this paint picture the red circles denote where I have used the stock mounting bolts.

So I'll get pics soon. So far I have already built the frame. All that remains is build the rear tray and figure out some cup holders. Then I gotta paint the bitch

This is before paint, tray, and cup holders

So I've made a couple revisions to my original idea. But here it is

And yeah my welds may be ty, but I'm only 16 and this is the first time I've only welded a few times.

I just realized that there is a lot more to it than you can see in the pictures.

I live in the South Bay. Hermosa/Redondo Beach.

To tell you the truth I don't have my license. I'm 16 but due to complications I wont be getting it till February, which is 6 months late. I bought my truck a little over a year ago. So the only wheeling I've been able to do is piles of dirt in empty lots or any kinda mud I can find. I know it's pathetic. But I have my permit so hopefully next time I go dirt biking with my dad we can take my truck instead of his f-350 and I can wheel it.

I did the .50 cal ammo can center console in my '81 too. Thanks for the idea on the cup holders...I think you helped me solve that problem...

You can drive off of a public road, so technically you can go wheeling. But getting there might be an issue.

Get in a little trouble with the law did we? If you want your work to look better, grind your stuff straight and even before you do any welding, and take your time while you're welding.

Hey, looks like it'll do the job! Camo up the outside of the truck and slap a machine gun on and yer good to go! Why not? It'll match the ammo canister. I've been considering a camo job for my truck for a while. Then I'll stencil in "Lt. Dan" below the driver side window like on a jet.

Don't call me a redneck

I've found that my earlier welds (which held ok but looked kinda ty) were the result of insufficient heat. Don't be afraid to crank it up on that bad boy!
