Can you double up a forward shift with a top shift?
So, I've come to realize that one way to prevent trail breakage is to have the ability to crawl over obstacles, rather than just charge at them. My 84 pick up has a forward shift transfer case, and I also have a top shift transfer case from my 89 pickup that I can use for the rear case, but I don't know if the 2 styles are interchangeable. Would it just be more worth my while (and money) to regear the stock case to 470:1, or is the double case idea better? I do like the idea of a shorter rear driveshaft with the 2 cases, and trail-gear makes a nice skid plate/ cross member to replace the stock one that hangs down quite far. What to do, what to do?....

Thanks, I just forwarded your statement and AxleIke's video to my wife. We were just have a 'debate' this morning on why I had spend a ton of $$$ on gears/doubler that I don't have installed yet and why I was gonna need another $300 or do for modified driveshafts...
Transfer cases, adapter and 4.7 gear set been sitting in back of the Trekker way too long..Need to get off my butt and get it together to go wheeling

Go here, I recently asked about a crawl box, essentially what you're doing, and this is the best resource I have seen.
