Bumper advice.

so, my runner was recovered after about a week of being stolen and found abandoned nearby without my TG tube bumpers.

when i bought them i thought they were pretty original and gave it a more aggressive look as well as giving it some protection.

now all i see are TG stingers!

now that i need bumpers, im looking for a different look to achieve the same goals: look cool and protect.

ive always loved the "luxury crawler's" (sorry to steal a great idea dirtco)front bumper, but never really liked the lights above the bumper... here is my take:

since i dont know how to weld i have to outsource that type of thing. i was quoted a price of $400 mocked on my rig, not a jig and the guy would need a day.

i'm also tossing the idea of a marlin/all pro stinger-less bumper for a cleaner look

NOW THE REAR...

i liked the TG rear but it is almost generic now. i know i want a tube bumper, not plate. and i dont really want/need a tire carrier. anyone got an original bumper idea that is both functional and cool? i like the marlin rear but both styles are so close.

I went with ARB front and 4xinnovations rear. Not on yet. Still in the paint booth. Nice to see you recovered your rig. Damn thieves.

I have always like DirtCo's front bumper. The quote you got sounds about right.

Glad to hear you got it back

Dave's off road rear bumper is pretty dang cool toO

Buy a built generic one cheaper and customize it. I do it all the time.
Still cheaper to buy a built one, cut off what you don't like and add on.

i like where your head is at!
im going to drive around a bit where my vehicle was recovered and see if there is any sign of my old bumpers. pretty sure the thieves were young/inexperienced and im hoping they will make a mistake.

thanks for the kind words, overall im pretty happy with the recovery, im just glad no one spray painted it, ran it into a tree, or ran 1000 rounds of 7.62x39 through it.

i would if i lived with my sister down in fairhope, AL, but i have to support the local crowd up here. otherwise, you'd be first on my list. i might have to order some aisin o-rings from you though since no stealership has them up here.

the officer had a nice chuckle when he asked me if i had any stickers on my truck to identify it. i told him my atv permit, and a sticker that says "jeeps are cute..." he must've owned a wrangler, whatdya think?

i like the BEEF of the rear bumper here, but am not a fan of the double bar on the bottom, a little unnecessary otherwise it rocks!

the guy who quoted me the price on the front bumper said he would get me a TG rear bumper for 250 (about 40 bucks off retail- hes a TG vendor) if i go through him. guess im goin with the TG rear.

$650 total for F&R bumpers no shipping (local pickup)... not too bad i guess

bit the bullet today and bought a new style addicted bumper.
the custom guy was unwilling to budge on price and i wouldve had to drop my truck off for a week for both front and rear!

was hoping scotty c would hook up a yotatech discount, but realized it was improbable since he is already having a "bumper blowout"

28 bucks in sales tax, 92 in shipping, sheesh! im spoiled in oregon
edit: scotty c has responded, GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! thank you

anywho, i think im set on the davez rear bumper but keep reading about bad customer service, and shipping issues. not to mention its just as expensive as the addicted front bumper!!

maybe im just a cheap-o but 1000 bucks for front and rear bumpers is a little rich. im broke now hahahaha

We've already got rear bumpers for 4Runners (both 1st and 2nd gens) redesigned, built, and approved, and we are waiting for the next production run to get em in stock. Hopefully we'll get em in stock within a month or so!

It's been almost a month, and just wondering about if those 2nd gen bumpers are still about to hit the shelf? I've been patiently waiting for a long time Any chance they will go back to the $249 price? Just look at the naked rear in my avatar

I couldn't wait for marlin so I went with 4xinnovations and glad I did. They are AWESOME! Makes all others look like they are just for looks. And no, it's not over built and doesn't hang too low. Buy one before they go on back order too.
