The key is to change your oil on time and often. Oil breakdown is gonna vary by brand but it doesnt matter much unless you are racing or live in extreme temperatures.
On my newer 4Runner, I use Purolator Premium with Castrol GTX every 2500 miles.
For everything else I drive, white Purolator filter and cheap oil plus changing it often works for me. Almost 200K miles on my beater Civic and the valvetrain is still silverish clean and very low emissions detected by the sniffer.

I found a case of brad pen 20w50 in my shop and used it on my 2nd oil change since I replaced the front end of my engine and adjusted the valves numerous times. The 20w50 defiantly quieted down the engine and the partial synthetic hasn't produced any leaks. I had castrol HM 10w30 in it before I changed it.

Mobil, non synthetic

Mark, Fram's check valves often fail. These valves keep oil in the filter at all times, so at startup you have oil pressure. If this fails, you're dry cranking. TOYOTA FILTERS FTW!!!

90915-yzzd1/or d3 is the most common.

every oil filter will hold 2 ounces of oil after it has been drained.. thats why the have to have a hole punched in them to drain for the epa. or crushed...

Yea, frams are pretty bad. Aside from the check valve and the rest of the cheap parts inside, they drop pressure in a lot of motors. Put one on an old VW camper and the oil light will never turn off. That said, I'm not going to the dealer for an oil filter... Generic dino oil and wix filter.

From what I have heard, walmart supertech oil and mobil 1 is the top rated oil and the penzoil is one of the worst, I use mobil 1.
