Check the grounds and all the connections at the lights themselves. I had one of the terminals break off at the light bucket on mine. Little solder and she was good as new.

I have a 1990 pickup extened cab with the same issues. The fuses are good, my mechanic fiddles with the fusebox and it's fine, for a while. It's like it works loose. It's fine when I get home, but when I go out the next day or so, the idiot light is lit again.

If it's just the "brake" light on the instrument cluster, either fluid level/sensor, or E-brake handle switch adjustment. That would be my guess...
