Ok. 22R, pushed in the AC button to hook up equip. RPM went to 2200 and never changed while charging. She blowing cold air, but that rpm won’t fly in traffic!
I just finished my 87 22r AC today. Replaced Compressor, condenser, dryer, and pump hoses. All new o-rings and fresh mineral oil and a R12 charge. Getting 39⁰ at the vents and it's 95⁰ today! She never had AC since I've owned it for about 2 years now. Anyways, I had high idleing and it would surge. I turned down the AC idle up screw half turn to the left to lower the rpm and all good now. You can search "Idle adjustment 1982 22r" on this forum and there is a thread on it with a picture.
Jelly of the R-12, mine is great unless it’s in traffic or just sitting……I just don’t think the 134 does any justice in these old systems but hey it’s better than no A/C I guess….

I was going to convert at first, i would have installed an electric fan in front of the condenser if I did and wire a relay to the compressor clutch wire, But I got lucky and found a guy that had some R12 for $30/can. It was last min too! Summer came quick out here! I did the last two summer no AC and I was not going for a third! Especially in traffic!
