Adding a Chevy leaf?

I've done the reading on adding the 63" Chevy leafs. But you have to weld the shackle mount on to the frame to accommodate the new length. Just wondering is it the length that gives you the lift? I mean if you took the Chevy leafs apart and used all of them except the Toyota top spring so it bolts back into place would that work? Am I just an idiot?
And can I put rear 86 Toyota 4 runner leafs on my front? I have an 85 runner and my leafs are sad.

Pretty sure yes to the rears on the front. The chevy springs will have a different spring rate and arch to them giving the lift

I have been wondering the same thing. I mean sounds like it would work in theory but I am guessing you would have to put it to the test to find out if it works. If I make it to the junk yard before you I'll try it out and let you know

Your pairing leaves together that dont agree at all. So there could be side affects. But I dont think it wont work. I was also told f-150 rears are great on yotas and they suck. Got them on my taco and it rides like a pregnant donkey during a civil war. So weird things do and can happen when it comes to springs.

edit: by side affects I mean the top leave is acting as a lazy welfare recipient and the other springs are paying taxes to support it.
So the slide pads are going to last about 2 days.

I have married springs together before on a race car and it changed the ride quiet a bit. As for making it ride bad, I agree and these springs are not going to flex the best or work for long term but they may just get us back to ride height or help us carry a little more weight.

If you mix more then just the top leaf it might act a little better. A little trial and error is how we get junkyard mods in the first place, right?

Sold my 33's already.

Its worth a try, and might just work great. But theres nothing like a matched pack for performance and longevity.

Guys use chevy leafs all the time without rebuilding the packs or sliders. This couldn't be much worse
