85 runner Clutch noise?

85 runner Clutch noise?
I'm looking at buying an 85 tomorrow and the clutch or transmission makes a weird whine/winding kind of noise in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th gears. If I pushed the clutch in, it seemed like it would go away. And in 4th gear it wasn't there.
Do you guys have any ideas as to what could be making noise like that? It's not like grinding or crunching noise, it sounds like a low whining sound that spools up as the gears turn faster.
