Are the 85 and 89 4runner 5 speed trans the same>?

Are the 85 and 89 4runner 5 speed trans the same>?
Need to know if the 85 and 89 4 runner 5 speeds trans are the same? If not will the transfer case from the 85 bolt up to the 89 trans?

Should be as long as both have top shifting transfer cases, see where the t-case lever is coming out of.

They SHOULD be the same but never can tell what might have been swapped in during 20+ years.
