'85 4Runner Cleanup...

Sat at my dad's house for the last three years just rusting and finally had a chance to go home on some leave. A buddy of mine jump started it and welded the rear shocks back on and then I drove it from PA to NC to TX and then to CA two weeks ago... Everything held up better than expected for saying it was neglected for so long.

1) Wire brushed the whole floor and recoated with some spray can bed liner...
2) Cut out the cracked bondo from the roll and reworked that...
3) Gave it a rattle can bath...
4) Created half doors...
5) Smoothed the roof out as much as possible...

The floor was pretty rusty from all the water that had just been laying in there... The roof has alot of surface rust from the roll before I left.

Pics of it cleaned up... That is all that I got accomplished this week and over the next few weeks I'm just going to start pulling things off to wire brush and primer.

Today I was able to give it a state of the art tune up... Plugs, oil change, rotor & distro cap. After that I adjusted the play in the steering on the steering box by loosening the lock nut and turning the center screw about a quarter of a turn.

Wow, it's looking a lot different from when I saw it last :flipoff:

The half doors look good - I can't tell from the pics but did you end up fiberglassing them?
