I know you said that you are tired of reading but this will answer your chevy swap questions:
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...threadid=20665

also check out 4crawler's website for the RUF lift. I am really surprised that you did not find that info on Yotatech, 4crawler, AKA: Roger Brown has posted it numerous times:

I have not done it yet, but the chevys go in the rear. The rear ones go in front, alot of people are using waggy springs up front, 44044.

Short answer to the question is no, usually can't use just one rear spring pack up front. Maybe if you left in the overload leaf it might hold the weight, but probably won't be a good ride. That is why I used 2 sets of springs to make mine. Leaves from the 2nd pack were cut down in length to make up the lower (shorter) leaves in the new pack as noted:

Likely will need to either modify the steering arm (putting the ball stud on top of the the J-arm rather than below it as it is now) or something like your spring under setup, although you'll need about 4-5" extra lift just to match the height of the spring over setup.

31K on your '85????

Please take the plow off your truck!! I would to have your truck to start a build one..though a lot of folks would say leave it stock. Sweet truck!!

i would leave it stock just because its in such good shape and the low miles, maybe restore it back to new condition. i mean if you really want to build a wheeler ill trade you straight up for mine lol. but its your truck so your decision but if it were me id hate to see suck a nice specimin be hacked up into a wheeler.

Well heck with that low mileage, your truck must run flawlessly! If yer looking to lift and put bigger tires on, I would properly gear everything. No sense in making a fresh motor & tranny with YEARS of potential overload itself pushing 33s or 35s.

Great thing about solid axle trucks. Lifting = Cheap Cheap

I think most people would go for new spring kits, I'd settle for lift shackles and maybe blocks. I have heard bad stories about blocks though.
