84-85 vent window

Well, I've seen the 84-85 Toyota 4wd pickups with and without vent windows. What determined if the truck came with or without vent windows? Was it a option?

If I had to guess it was an option like solid vs sliding rear glass or sunroof. I've seen them on short bed, long bed, SR5, Deluxe, Standard, Turbo, Diesel... you name it.

I bet the majority of the 200 views were from non-members just browsing.

This was an era for Toyota where pretty much any small option that was available for your model could be added separately if it was not already included in an options package, with the exception of SR5 only items (gauge cluster and alloy wheels for example, driveline options excluded).

If I remember correctly, the vent windows were optional on pretty much every truck but came standard with the "Upgrade Package" which includes the vent windows, tinted glass, Cigarette Lighter (12V outlet) and outside rear cab light (Deck lamp, Xtra cab models).

I don't think you can figure out what options originally came on the truck without a dealer build sheet with VIN. I think the dealer can look up your VIN (if it is still in their system ) and print you a copy.

I'm thinking the same, it was some sort of option. I'm assuming that the long outside mirrors were also a option, not sure what the name is for these mirrors but I sure want a set. I was PM ing someone on here about them, he said he was going to sell them and then puff he hasn't gotton back to me yet.
Thanks Guys

Either way you are going to have to drill the lower holes. My only concern would be if the upper mounting assembly covered the upper holes.

That's what I have now. I would rather have the smaller ones though. Or even some new FJ Cruiser ones with built in turn signals.
What I have.

so what are they off of? And what is your truck? Opps, I see it now............
They look kinda ok, don't know how they match up with the Toyota ones.
I have a lot of time till I need these but if I start looking now and find a pair I'll put them with the rest of the stuff I have, kinda like a squirrel

I have always called those type of mirrors "Farm truck mirrors".

I don't remember seeing them in a Toyota catalog. Maybe they were a dealer approved option or disappeared from the catalog early. Not sure.

It very well may have been a dealer option as some models had no passenger mirror at all and if the customer wanted one they had to use a universal one. They were pictured with those mirrors in the brochures for Toyota as well so they definitely did sell them that way.

Here is a pic of the vent windows option. SR5 option only for 4Runner.

Side Vents optional across the board for pretty much all models except with power package

The sport-styled outside mirrors were standard on all models but not all had a passenger one.
