84-85 automatic?

did toyota make an 84 or 85 automatic truck. i didn't think they did but i saw an 85 on ebay with an auto and it didn't look aftermarket it didn't have a engine swap or anything. i was just wondering because i would rather have an auto but didn't know they existed.

'85 was the only solid axle/auto year, and only with the 22RE as it was electronically controlled.

The auto was available in 85, along w/EFI.
I don't think they had an auto in 84.

nope, it was only on the 22RE, as it requires the computer for the engine to function.

2wds had been available with a traditional 3 speed auto since the mid 70s.

if you think 22re's are weak with a manual, multiply that if you have an auto.

One of my buddys has/had an 85 with an auto. He said it was a dog and he swapped it out to a 5 speed. He said it just had no balls with the auto.

Old thread I know but, I don't mind the auto...might - MIGHT- swap for a 5 speed after I get some trail time under my belt with it.

Now you can get an www.inchwormgear.com adapter to put a doubler after the auto.
