5.29's too low?

I just ordered 5.29's and rear detroit locker and truetrac for the front. Its for my 88 4runner with 22RE and man. tranny. I currently run 32's and might go as large as 33's tops. Its not my daily driver but would have to be driven to and from anywhere I might wheel. I was torn between 4.88;s and 5.29's. I wanted to get my moneys worth so I went with 5.29s. Order went in today from 4wheelparts. I hope its not too low.

I ran 5.29s/33s for a few years (22RE/5spd) and it worked, engine revved pretty high. I found it tolerable @ 65, but 70 and above was tiring, engine turning 3300-3500 for hours on end. If you do a lot of hills and don't have long, high speed stretches, it works fine. It was when I drove back east into states with 75 speed limits or when I hit Montana w/ no limits that it sucked.

It's ok now we have speed limits. Damn
If it's not a daily driver 5.29's will be a little low but will give you the acceleration and ability to pull hills. Good choice, most people end up with bigger tires than expected and now you will be ready.

5.29's are perfect for 35's, I had them in two of my trucks, both 5 speeds 1 v6 and on 4 cycl, ran like a champ plenty of power and didnt rev real high either.

I ran 5.29's with 33's for a few months while I was waiting for the 36's. It sucked. If it was a DD it'd have been useless.
4.88's are much better for 33's.

5.29's and 35"s put you close to a stock ratio. I tried my 5.29's with a set of 33"s and it sucked on the freeways. They sucked a lot of gas too. Runs the RPM's too high for any length of time. Then again, mine is my daily driver. If you are just looking for crawling, you chose wisely. Hope all works out.

I got a little chuckle out of "5.29s too low?" followed by "I just ordered 5.29's and rear detroit locker and truetrac.." Too late to ask for advice AFTER you order...

Update. I didn't send the 5.29's back. They are installed with my locker and truetrac. Its really not that bad. It's not a daily driver at all. I have a DCab Tundra for that. I just installed my can-back and I'm getting my rear bumper soon. Unfortunatly, I haven't taken it out to see what it'll do yet. I'll post some pics soon.

My (eventual) plan is 4.88's, 34x12.5-16's TrXus MT's, Chevy Rears, All-Pro Fronts, Marlin Low Tcase Gears.
