4x4 Not Working!!

Needing again guys. Bought this 85 sr5 4x4 xtra cab stock straight axle pickup with AUTOMATIC locking hubs that sat for 3 years. Got it running and driving down the road got home and wanted to check and make sure the 4wd worked. Got all 4 tires off the ground, shifted into 4 high in first gear, back tire spun but front did nothing. Shifted into 4 low, back tire spun slow but again, front did nothing. The front shaft was spinning. After I shut it off I took the plug off the front diff to make sure it actually had gears in it and it did. There are no vacuum lines going to it, just a nipple on the top passenger side of the differential. PO said the hubs were rebuilt before it was parked. Any clues?

Uh the auto hubs… take them off and see if everything moves freely inside. That's where I'd start

After I took the hubs off they looked terrible grease was caked up and metal shavings everywhere but the axle shafts were spinning. Everyone says to just go to manuals so that's my plan

Metal shavings are not good. Look here for manual hubs for sale.

So with the hubs on nothing moves but the hubs off the axle shafts move fine. So that is definitely locking hubs right?

With the locking hubs on, in 4wd the front driveshaft is spinning but not the tires or hub. When I take the locking hub off the front axles turn fine. So that's definitely hubs?
