22r rough warm idle, sluggish acceleration, back firing

hi all. just did the head gasket on my 22r. it ran perfectly on startup. when i took it for a spin and it kicked off hig idle and started to idle rough. almost like its running on three cylinders. accelerates smoothly but sluggishly in low rpms. but pulls fine at higher rpms. and backfires on decel. please help.

or fuel mix too rich at idle
or valve adjustment required
or ignition timing not set correctly

yup... that'll do it.

my buddy's elcamino was a bit trickier. I found the right tooth, but it didn't line up with the oil pump. so i made it fit.
