ok i got a 85 pick up with a 22r, the carburetor was just pure junk so i decided to go propane. i got the kit threw gotpropane? and have it all hooked up right and got it running but i am running in to some problems now, it started up and was missing like crazy it said that i would have to advance my timing so i started turning the timing up it didnt clear up until it was turned all the way up and the truck just dont want to pull its self hardly especially when i get to pulling a hill i just dont know what to do all i can think is maybe i need to advance my timing chain a tooth? but im not sure if thats what i need to do or not anybody have any suggestions on this problem?

 

Don't advance your timing chain if anything you would advance your distributor a tooth. The 22r's are interference motors meaning if you advance you timing chain there is a very good chance your valves will slam in to your pistons. Making for a very sad day. I could be wrong but don't think I am.

 

Have you gotten it fixed yet??? Curious to see of it was a problem with the propane injection?

 

it is fixed now, ive learned alot about the propane in the process. I ended up jumping the distributor a tooth to get it right and it is very aggravating to get it to jump just one tooth, with that said if anyone else has this problem don't give up on it, it will fall in place! but i had a timing cover gasket blow on me shortly after i got the timing right, i went ahead and replaced everything while i had it apart and when i got it all back together and perfectly in time i had to do it all again so from my personal experience you need to jump a tooth to get it right

 

I think if I had to jump a tooth I would just take the valve cover off.. It would be very easy then you would think?? Is it normal to jump a tooth when you run propane?
