22r no compression on 3 and 4 cyl

Just picked up a 85 extra cab in hopes of rescuing it.
Was running like crap, so did a compression test and 0 compression on 3 and 4 cylinder.
When running im getting a loud top end sound, doesn't sound like bottom end as it is higher pitched.
Pulled valve cover resset valve clearance hoping for a valve that wasn't closing all the way. And still no compression on three and four and I mean 0 not even moving gauge.

Any ideas?

How many miles on the engine ?. It could be so many different things, but you will need to pull the head to see whats going on in the engine.

wouldn't I atleast get some compression reading with a blown headgasket?
Also no pressure into the cooling system, and no water into oil?

You will have to pull the head anyway.Did the previous owner tell you any problems, or what work was done on it?

Found it at a tow yard auction, it was abandoned so no history. Pulling the head tomorrow.

mine had no coolant/oil mix.The gasket was blown between the clyinders.Compression was really low due to it blowing back thru the intake valves. It blew, sounded like a rod knock, and had no power.Only drove it a 1/4 mile when it happened.
