1985 22re starter relay
for some odd reason my 1985 22re will not start with ignition key. starter and solenoid are fine, neutral SW fine.Voltage leaves ignition. No voltage to connector before the safety SW. does this vehicle have a starter relay? If so where.

If it does it should be on the passenger side of the engine bay just behind the fuse box. But the earlier ones don't seem to have them. I upgraded mine based on what Ray (RAD4Runner) has posted here several times.

does this vehicle have a starter relay?
Long story short... (after you send 12V to your Neutral Safety Switch, AND double-check your starter solenoid.

Will the computer click once?
I removed glove compartment door, passenger side kick panel and even checked behind the computer. I didn't
see any relay.
I also took starter off and had it tested twice, which it showed good.
I replaced positive battery cable to starter...mainly because someone before me had put a cable on it
that was 1-1/2 feet too long.
Only thing I know is to replace ignition switch, although ACC and ON seem to work fine, just not START position,
only a single click from somewhere.
Thank you,

After checking further into your replies, I see where the single click I'm hearing is coming from the circuit opening relay for the fuel pump...
[thanks for that information].
Also after re-reading your replies I see that my 1985 doesn't have a starter relay.
Am I right assuming that the ignition switch sends power to the neutral safety switch and then on to the starter?
If so I'm guessing that I'm either needing an ignition switch or maybe a neutral safety switch. And if the ignition switch
activates the circuit opening relay for the fuel pump when turned to start, then it must be working right...especially since as far
as I can tell everything seems to work in ACC position.
I'm going to go with needing a neutral safety switch.
Do you have any info on replacing that switch?
Thanks,

I ended up putting a relay from battery to starter. Now the starter gets it's power from the battery straight thru the relay directly to the starter.
It doesn't have to go thru the NSS first.
